House GOP: President Trump ‘not a leader’ as he meets with members
In a letter to House Republicans, House Speaker Paul Ryan said Trump “has not demonstrated leadership in guiding his team of Cabinet members through the daunting challenges of governing.”
Ryan, R-Wis., said Trump is “not a visionary” and that he has “not demonstrated leadership.”
Ryan added, “I do not believe that he possesses the necessary experience or temperament to lead this country.”
Trump’s office released a statement saying he has a “strong record of bringing people together, and that is why I believe that his time in office is long overdue.”
Trump is scheduled to meet with House and Senate leaders Monday.
The White House said Monday that Trump plans to announce his pick for a special envoy to lead the transition, which includes Cabinet officials.
Trump has said he wants to focus on infrastructure and trade.
